Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium’s Statement on Build Ontario

CUTRIC commends the Ontario government for announcing several transit infrastructure projects in its Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review, Build Ontario. We are pleased to see the government identify a need for more transit-oriented communities, while remaining focused on delivering major rail projects in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

Build Ontario sends a clear signal that governments must take a hard look at how we rebuild our economies after a difficult two years. We applaud Ontario for prioritizing transit infrastructure projects as a key pillar of its economic recovery strategy, which is a promise that this province has committed to since the early days of the pandemic. Ontario has a robust transit stakeholder community across the entire supply chain. We look forward to bringing our members together as we continue to play an important role in leveraging green and smart transit as a historic economic opportunity for decades to come.
